My Favorite Moments as a Mother

First of all...Happy Mother's Day to all the mom's out there.  Especially my Mom, Mother-in-law, Grandma's (both blood-related and in-laws), sisters, and sister's-in-law.  I hope you all have a good Mother's Day and get to take a nap!  That's all I want for Mother's Day.

I just wanted to share some of the best moments I've had as a Mother that remind me that it is what I do best (instead of moments like the other day that make me feel like the worst).

Corbin:

Corbin holds a special place in my heart because he is the person who first gave me the title of Mother.  He has never been anything less than a complete joy.  He is by far the easiest of my children (and not just because of his age, he's ALWAYS been easy).  He's very easy going and laid back, and everyone loves him.  He's an awesome kid to have around.  One of my favorite moments with Corbin was when he had a conversation with me about blue-tooth.  Not a blue tooth, but blue-tooth as in technology.  I would explain more, but I honestly don't really know what it is....Corbin DOES!  He was telling me all about how the remotes for the Wii communicate using blue-tooth where as the remotes from the Game Cube are connected by wires.  It was a advanced conversation that I felt inadequate participating in.  It was really funny how much he knew about it, and made me really proud of my genius child.  Since then we've had many more "computer" conversations that go way over my head, he's just like Scott.

Dexter:
Dexter is my little cuddle-bug.  He is actually very loving.  He says "I love you" more than all the other kids combined and when he's in a good mood is very funny and silly and awesome to play with.  He is by far the hardest of my children, but it makes the good moments feel even better.  One of the best moments I can remember with Dexter was when Ivy was a baby and he LOVED to make her laugh.  He would do all he could just to see her giggle with delight.  I remember once when she was lying on the floor and he was blowing raspberries on her tummy and making her laugh super hard.  It went on for a good 20 minutes and was so fun to watch.  He still really loves to make her laugh (but he loves to make her cry now too).  Even though he makes me want to rip my own hair out occasionally I can't imagine my life without my sweet little guy.  The good moments make the bad moments worth it.

Ivy:

What can I say about my miracle girl.  She is the apple of my eye..not that the other kids aren't but she is so special to us because she had to work extra hard to stay here on earth.  She is delightful and has everyone she knows wrapped around her finger, from us to doctors to people at church to random people on the street.  There is just something about her that people can see, even if they don't know her background.  My favorite moment with Ivy may have been told on this blog before, and many people have heard it, but I'm going to share it anyway.  Ivy struggled with an oral aversion for a really long time.  When it came time for her to eat solid foods it was difficult.  She threw up all the time and it was so hard to keep the calories she desperately needed to stay in her body.  She wouldn't put anything into her own mouth (not even toys or anything that all babies instantly put in their mouths).  It was hard because she needed to do these things in order to learn and develop like any other child.  We did tons of occupational therapy to correct this problem, and it was hard everyday.  Anyway, we had gone to Walmart for some groceries one day and while we were there we grabbed some lunch at the Mcdonalds inside.  One of the boys handed Ivy a chicken nugget, and after a minute or two she put that chicken nugget into her mouth.  I wept openly right there (with onlookers staring like I was crazy) because we had worked so hard to get that to happen and I didn't think it would ever work.  It still brings tears to my eyes!

Echo:
Echo is our little baby (for the time being).  She is so sweet and cute and always happy.  We love having her in our family because her happiness is contagious.  I can't think of an exact moment since she is so young, but I will give an example of something.  Whenever I go in to get her from her naps or in the mornings when she wakes up, she is ecstatic to see me.  She does this little happy, bouncy dance and reaches out for me and it is so cute and funny.  Even when I'm having a hard day its moments like those that make me remember why I do it all.  She is such a sweet little girl and I'm so glad she loves mama best!

Now everytime I hear about Corbin I'm going to think "is your yahoo pinned to your taskbar?" sounds just like my brother and he now knows more about computers than my dad! I know Ivy still loves Dexter because every sunday in sharing time she's like "there's dex!" Oh, and she's totally got me wrapped around her finger. Guilty.
