Gearing up for surgery

I don't know if I've ever mentioned it on the blog, but Ivy's surgery is coming up on July 1st. We decided that before the very stressful time that we will spend in the hospital, it would be perfect to spend a couple of days with some friends at Ross and Marde's cabins at bear lake. This will be our third year of going there with our closest friends and we are really looking forward to it. Especially since for a while there we were afraid it wouldn't happen this year.
Here's Ives is in her swimsuit for Bear Lake. Its a 12 month size so its a little big, but I couldn't find a smaller size!

Anyway, we are pretty nervous for Ivy's surgery, but are really hoping for the best. She has been doing SO WELL lately and it almost seems a shame to go back to square one. The doctors say it is best to do the surgery when she is doing well, so at least we've got that going for us.

So here's a little update on how she is doing lately. She is currently at 12 lbs and grows about 3 oz every week (which is awesome for her), she still eats really well and spits up a lot less. She has also excelled at eating solid foods, she LOVES it! She can roll over really well from belly to back, but not quite as good the other way around. She doesn't sit up on her own yet, but is getting close (I hope she doesn't regress too much after surgery). She loves to clap and wave, and also pats our backs whenever we pick her up. She is also still a big fan of her tongue and constantly sticks it out. She is (finally) sleeping in her crib in her bedroom, instead of the one next to our bed. That was because of me, not her, I was nervous to have her far away.

Here is the cross-stitch that I finished months ago. Actually I finished it before Dex was born, since I didn't know if he was a boy or girl I made a one of each, then I added her name and stats a few months ago. I finally had it framed last week, on my own. I hope Marde is proud of my initiative. Doesn't it look cute!!

PS. To update on the ant situation, I haven't seen a live ant for days, but I do see a couple million dead ant bodies all around the outside of my house!! I guess that means it worked! On a more negative note, the day after the dude sprayed I was bitten by a spider, and Corbin was stung by a bee....revenge??????

Bye Bye Ants, I Won't Miss You!

Ever since we moved into our house one year ago (almost exactly a year ago in fact), we have had a MAJOR ant problem. I swear our house must have been built on top of a giant ant hill, no wait an entire ant city! They are seriously EVERYWHERE, and I freakin' hate them!!!! Not just outside, but inside too.

Not too long ago I had just cleaned our whole house and was pretty proud of how lovely it looked. I then fed the kids lunch which included a mini bag of Sun Chips. One of them managed to drop a chip on the living room carpet and I didn't notice it. We then went to the grocery store to pick up some baby formula and were gone about a half hour, when we returned home, this is what welcomed us.

That's not even that bad in comparison to the million other times this has happened. Stupid ants! I have tried everything to get rid of them. Little ant motels, raid spray, standing next to the boys while they eat with the broom and dustpan to pick up every single morsel that might fall to the ground. I even tried digging up their colony and then drowning them with boiling water and bleach. They came back every single time. So anyway, a dude came to my door the other day offering a deal to spray for ants, yellow jackets and spiders. It was like he was an angel sent from above. I am terrified of spiders and bees, and then the ants of course, were ruining my life, so I jumped at the opportunity to be rid of them all. The dude said it would take about 10 days for all the ants to die off. We are leaving for Bear Lake, and Ivy's surgery in 7, so I won't know for sure they are all gone until we get back in 3 to 6 weeks. I hope it works though, or else we might come home to giant mutant ants sleeping in our beds, and I'm sure they'll be thirsty for revenge!!

New Bike

The last couple of weeks Corbin has been loving the bike we got him for his second birthday. He rides when we go for walks and goes so fast that it scares me a little. He was rapidly outgrowing the bike, but we thought as long as it works, he's okay. Well last week he was riding it in the driveway when he completely busted through the training wheel, rendering it unusable. He was crushed. Everyday he'd say "can you glue it back together?" but it wasn't possible. Instead, this saturday we went and bought him a new bike ( for just $34, what a deal!!), along with a bell, helmet, elbow and knee pads (to make me feel like he's safe). Don't worry, we also got Dex a helmet, and pads, but not a bike, he just got a tricycle for his birthday. The boys had so much fun riding in the driveway until the rainstorm moved in, and hasn't completely gone away since. I guess he'll have to wait to break it in until the weather improves.

Here's Corbin' with his new digs.

Dex refused to sit on his trike so I could take a picture. He'd get close to it and act like he was going to and then when I'd hold up the camera he'd take off running and laughing. He gets such a kick out of himself!

Meanwhile, Ives made a new freind.......her tongue!

Father and Son's Camp-out

A couple of weeks ago (that's right, I'm a little behind) Scott took the boys' to a father and sons camp-out with Russell's ward (our ward's father and sons happens to take place the same weekend we have to leave for Ivy's surgery, so they won't be able to make it to that one). They had a great time and can't wait to go again next year, hopefully with our own ward. Here are some fun pics of the adventure.
Playing with the flashlight. Notice how Dex is pushing in his belly button, he STILL does that!
Nighty-night boys'!

mmmmm.....pancakes.
Eating breakfast.

Don't run with your mouth full, Dex!

All the boys' right before it's time to head home. Don't you love the dirty faces in just about every picture!!

Dressing Up and Punking Out For Summer

Grandma Marde sent Ivy some super cute summer outfits to wear that match her freshly painted bedroom. Here are some pics of her sporting them for ya grandma, enjoy!

The boys' hair was getting pretty hobbit-ish the last few weeks so today I decided it was time for a cut. In case you were unaware, both of our boys' hair naturally grows like a mohawk, because of their two swirlies in the back. I thought it would be fun to see what they looked like if I buzzed them into a mohawk. It was the most successful haircutting day we have had in a long time. No crying, screaming or fighting! It was awesome. So here are their fun new summer mohawks. Sorry Grandma Marde, I know how much you despise this particular hairstyle, but the are so young that they definitely wont develop the personalities of actual punks! They are intended for adorable purposes only!
