I still maintain that dandelions are weeds!

A little over 12 1/2 years ago I stood up in my Hillcrest High School seminary class to give "senior advice" to the new sophomores that had just started. I was the first person in the class to stand up after several minutes of awkward silence when the teacher turned the time over to the seniors.  I remember being annoyed that the outgoing kid that sat front and center in the class didn't go first because he usually had things to say.  I don't remember what I said or for how long I talked, but I do remember that same kid listening to me and smiling at me.

A few weeks later as I was leaving school for the day a couple of my friends caught up with me as I was heading down the stairs.  They asked me if I knew who Scott Brunson was.  I told them no.  They informed me that he was in my seminary class and that he had just mentioned to them that I was "gorgeous".  I remember looking at the ugly clothes I had worn that day (a gray long-sleeved shirt and super holy jeans, plus no make-up with my hair up in a pony tail), and thinking, What?  I don't think he meant me.  I went home and immediately looked him up in my junior yearbook.  Upon seeing his picture I said to my little sister, "Oh, I know who that is, its the outgoing kid that sits in the front of my seminary class.  He has BIG hair!"  The very same kid that was smiling at me as I gave my senior advice.

The next day I dressed a lot cuter (and wore make-up and did something better with my hair) and went to seminary to see what would happen with this kid.  The entire class he didn't say one word to me.  I definitely thought that my friends were mistaken.  Then after the bell rang and I was leaving the room he asked me, "Aren't you glad you came to seminary today?"  I think I said "Sure." and he flashed a giant smile that made me heart jump and I left.  The next seminary class he sat behind me and asked me questions like if I thought dandelions were weeds or flowers and many other things, and basically from that day I've only had eyes for Scott.

Its crazy to me to think that we've been together this long and still have stuff to talk about and enjoy each others company all the time.  I was certain years ago that "he'd get sick of me pretty soon", but he never has.  Even when I've packed on the pounds and he's seen me at my most vulnerable times he continues to love me and I continue to love him.  He can cheer up my bad moods in a flash, and I still melt at the sight of his giant smile.  My favorite time of day is after our kids go to bed and we have a few minutes to talk (uninterrupted!) or just cuddle on the couch and watch Conan. I love that guy!

Happy 31st Birthday to my most favorite guy on Earth!  I love you babe!

Just remember that according to your story, I thought you were "gorgeous" and you thought I had "BIG hair"...Now everyone knows who settled and who married up!!! I love you!!!
