Can You Believe This?

Have you heard about this? It is a blog post that was published for Marie Claire Magazine. It is basically calling fat people disgusting. I couldn't believe it when I read it. I am not a skinny person, and have never been one. I've had skinnier times, but would never be viewed as "skinny" by the average american. I've done things to try to slim down, some things worked, others not so much, yet I remain chubby (and most of the time I'm okay with that). I am deeply offended that a magazine would publish such hatred. Telling overweight people that they got that way from being lazy or not trying hard enough is just wrong, and then saying that they don't deserve affection because of it just makes me sick. They say they can understand anorexia, because some people are naturally thin, but apparently being naturally fat doesn't exist. I disagree, and I think that Marie Claire Magazine (not to mention the author of this particular post, Maura Kelly) should be ashamed that they let such hateful things be said to the millions of americans that struggle with being overweight. This is just like racism in my opinion, I'm going to go ahead and call it fatism. Hating someone because they aren't like you is wrong. I urge everyone out there, whether they be skinny, or not so skinny to be tolerant of everyone despite their skin-color, sexuality, gender, religion, AND weight.

Ps. I'm sorry to go all angry on my blog, but I wanted to enlighten you all on how some people in the world look at the less skinny. I hope you aren't one of them.
