Have you ever had one of those days that just doesn't go the way it is supposed to? Today was one of those days.
It actually started Friday with our ward halloween party. We dressed the boys up for the party so they could participate in the costume contest, and trunk or treating. Anyway, to make a long story short, they got some gum from somebody during trunk or treating. Corbin ate the gum in the car at some point on saturday, and it ended up in his hair. It was pretty well spread throughout his hair, and we knew we would have to cut it out. So since he had already had his bath on saturday we decided to cut it out today before church, which isn't until 12:30, so we had plenty of time.
So this morning after breakfast, we took him up to cut the gum out and buzz the rest of his hair (so it wouldn't be so obvious). We bribed him with hot chocolate to get it done without tears, and he agreed. Well anyway, Corbin proceeded to completely flip out! He cried and screamed and wiggled, he kept yelling, "you're hurting me!". It was so frustrating and took so much longer than it should have. Finally, we were able to somehow finish (although it looks a little silly) and throw him in the bath. By the time we got the boys bathed and dressed, and us bathed and dressed etc. we had about ten minutes before we had to leave for church.
On a side note, finding clothes for Corbin is always frustrating because he only has one pair of church pants that fit right now(sort of), but luckily they were clean, just a little short. I also had to keep a special eye on him while he drank his bribery hot chocolate (which he didn't really deserve) to make sure he didn't spill on his clean clothes. He tried to go outside at one point as well and play in the dirt, but I was able to thwart those plans before he got dirty.
Anyway, after all that and everyone was ready to go, I was about to go get the diaper bag ready when Scott and I realized that Corbin was in the bathroom with the door locked (never a good sign). We yelled in for him to let us in and he said he was going poop. We knew what that meant, he had pooped in his pants and was trying to hide the evidence. After about 5 minutes scott convinced him to open the door, and made the disgusting discovery that he not only pooped in his pants, but peed in them too! His only church pants! Now what?! Scott cleaned him up and we searched for something else for him to wear, that wasn't completely rediculous, but came up empty handed. By this time we were extremely late, and I gave up, no church for us today.
Just last week in relief society we talked about how President Joseph Smith was tarred and feathered, and still went to church the next morning. I feel like the worst mormon ever!

WOW!! Talk about a fun weekend. Don't ya just love gum. Sorry you missed church, But don't feel bad I'm sure I'm a worse mormon then you!!
See, thats why church is a bad thing. Think of all the drama you would have avoided if you hadn't bothered trying to get ready.
Sounds like most of my sunday mornings, I always get there 10 minutes before sacrament is over. Don't feel bad. I might have some pants that will fit corbin, let me know what size he wears.
I feel your pain. I couldn't help laughing though. And the fact that you even remember or HEARD last week's lesson means you are doing great as far as I am concerned :)
That sucks Chelle but there is always next week! There's nothing like the good ol' gum in the hair thing. Thats a little less messy than the other thing though.
I love all your mom stories. They make us all feel better because everyone has those crazy moments. You know you'll look back and laugh... maybe you already are.
rochelle you're the best mom ever. seriously. you are so patient and good with your boys. you have no idea how much i admire you! oh & i love that you posted all our prego picks. seriously. because i've been debating posting them in case you or dawn didn't approve, but it looks like fair game :)
van & I were so happy to see you! we love & miss you guys. we'll have to plan another trip to idaho (when it's warm again). we look forward to seeing you next week!
Oh heavens. Don't be so hard on yourself. You are a great mom because you didn't tar and feather your son. I can't believe the trauma. Sorry. Great thing is that as the days pass the story will get funnier and funnier (even to you).
That was such a great story Rochelle! We have gone through the same thing with our boys. I'm glad I have your blog address so I can keep tabs on you. Good luck in Salt Lake, we will be praying for you!
