Corbin

Corbin is such a sweet boy. He is so helpful with everything, sometimes a little too helpful. He always wants to do everything for me. Everytime I ask him to get me something or help me out with Dex, he is more than willing to do it. I love it, since it is so hard for me to get out of our couch sometimes, I feel like it swallows me when I sit on it.

Corbin recently started preschool. I actually teach him at home because we can't afford to pay someone else to do it, and the joyschools in our ward and neighborhood wouldn't let him in because he is too young(by 2 months!). Anyway, it is going pretty well, we rotate between 2 and 3 times a week for about 2 hours each time. He really looks forward to the days we are having it, he spends the whole day telling me that Dexter is tired and needs to nap so we can have preschool. We have been working on practicing writing his letters in a straight line and in proportion to each other, and since he already knows all his letters and sounds we are working on learning to read. He amazes me with how fast he is picking it up. We use the "BOB books" that Grandma Marde gave us, and he is really enjoying it. We are also learning to count to 20, he has 1 - 13 down, but gets confused after that, he is learning to write the numbers also. We've done some fun art projects that he hangs on the fridge, and play outside to get the wiggles out too. I don't really know what I am doing, or if what I am teaching him is what he would learn at a real preschool, so if anyone has suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Corbin says the funniest things sometimes. I don't know where he hears some of the words he says, or how he knows what they mean. He picks up on the little phrases Scott and I say also, and it is so cute to hear him say them to himself while he is playing. He will pretend to talk on the phone to the doctor or grandma or Dallin and Bowen, and say, "Dexy is playing outside, are you kidding me!" it is so funny to listen to him when he doesn't know we are listening. We love Corbin he is so amazing and funny and smart.

I love those little conversations with imaginary people that you aren't supposed to hear, but are so darn cute. Sounds like you are doing just fine with preschool. I mean he probably already knows more than most kids do when they start kindergarten, so I wouldn't worry. Is he starting school next year, or the next?

He will be starting kindergarten in the 2010-2011 school year, hopefully by next year we will be able to afford to put him in a real preschool.
