Oh grass, how we've missed you!! (kinda long, sorry)

Finally, after just two months of living in our new house we have finished our backyard!! Except for an add-on to our patio, which will hopefully be done next summer, and a vegetable garden (also next summer). We have been working very hard to make it useable, and by "we" I mean mostly Scott, I got to play the pregnancy card a lot. Anyway, the backyard started out as a jungle of weeds when we moved in, some taller than the fence. Pulling the weeds (which I actually helped a lot with) took up the biggest majority of time. It was hard work and we encountered more bugs and spiders than I would ever like to see again. For those of you that really know me, the spiders were a little more than I could handle. I ran screaming and freaking out on many occasions.
After all the weeds were gone we rented a trencher and Scott's little brother, Shawn came over to help us get all the trenching done for our new sprinkler system (the house came with a system in the front yard, but not the backyard).
After the yard was dug up ready for piping, Scott spent the next 4 days or so laying pipe and making his own custom system. Thanks to Scott's dad for teaching him the ups and downs of how to lay a sprinkler system! It turned out great! I felt like a single mom for those few days since scott spent every possible second that he wasn't at work out in the yard, but it was worth it. Once all the piping was ready to go the boys and I came out and "helped" put the dirt back in the trenches. I actually did a lot of the putting dirt back, since it was something I could manage without putting myself or the baby at risk.
Once that was all done Scott leveled the yard and we anticipated getting grass. It finally came yesterday and Scott's brothers, Russell and Shawn came to help roll it out, along with his cousin Vanessa's husband John, who happened to be in town. What a good sport! The boys were barely able to finish before dark. It is so beautiful, and we are so excited to have our first ever functioning backyard since we got married. Thanks to everyone for all their hard work, especially Scott who did much of the work himself in 90+ degree weather. Check out our slide show if you want to see the whole process illustrated for you.

How nice! A backyard makes a huge difference as I'm sure you've already experienced. Love the progression of the yard. I love seeing before and after pictures.

Your yard looks great! We live in West Jordan so tell Scott he is free to come over anytime. You would think with my hubby being a plumber we would have one but sadly no! Your house looks super cute Chelle, the hard work paid off.

Yay for new grass. It looks great. I wish (sort of) that we had done our own grass because I know it would have been cheaper and I think we would have been more likely to care about the little details. Anyway it is beautiful, those boys will love playing on that. We love just laying on it in the shade.

That is so exciting. Having a backyard for the kids to play in is really like having an extension of the playroom. So, congrats!

What a great job. Kudos to Scott and you of course. Lots of hard work for a great reward. Just another reminder that great rewards are not given but earned.
