My First Doctors Appointment

Well, I guess the pregnancy is official, I had my first appointment on tuesday. I didn't get to meet my doctor this time, just her nurse. Her nurse was very nice and informative, she was able to answer all my questions, except one, which she called me about the following day. I was very impressed. The only thing that didn't quite go according to plan was the urine sample. As many of you already know, I have the world's most shy bladder. I have trouble peeing in public bathrooms, unless it's really an emergency, and it's so hard for me to pee on command. So the nurse sends me into the bathroom and points out this huge list of instructions for me to follow in order to get the proper urine sample. It was like a book! It was so detailed and long that I immediately started to sweat under the pressure. I followed every instruction on the paper, which took about ten minutes, and then tried to pee in the cup. Not very surprisingly, I had no success. I came out with my head down and shame in my eyes and admitted that I couldn't do it. The nurse just laughed and said, that's okay, you can take the kit home and do it there and just bring it to us. I was so relieved! She also said that the rest of my visits wouldn't be the same extreme when it comes to the urine sample, just the first one. Thank goodness. I think I will like this place better than the last one.

Dexter's First Birthday

Happy Birthday little man! Yesterday was Dex's first birthday, I can't believe its already been a year, it feels like he was just born. Crazy!! Anyway, we had a little birthday party for him, his cousins came over along with Russell, Collette and Shawn. I made him his very own cake to destroy, it was a red velvet cake with chocolate frosting, so it would be extra messy. He was pretty timid at first, but eventually he dug in and got a little dirty. We had a lot of fun, and hopefully so did he.

And here comes the morning sickness

I really love being pregnant, being part of an amazing miracle. A tiny little person growing inside of me so fast that I can't comprehend it. The whole thought of it actually brings tears to my eyes. But for the last couple of days, it hasn't been very fun, morning sickness has decided to show up, and not just in the morning! I admit that mornings are the worst, it takes hours to ease up, and I can't eat anything for fear of throwing up. But it doesn't end there, it shows up periodically throughout the day, and gets really bad in the middle of the night, especially if I have to get up with the kids. I feel miserable, and I know I still have plenty of time to go. I am trying to embrace this time with an open mind, trying not to complain and annoy Scott, but when you have to get out of bed at 6 am just to puke it gets hard. Wish me luck for the next several weeks, and hopefully (but not likely) it will be gone before we go on our cruise.
The picture above is obviously not from my current pregnancy, but I thought it illustrated how wonderful pregnancy could be.

Buying a house

Since Scott and I moved to boise 3 months ago, we have periodically looked at some houses on the internet, and driven around to grab flyers from houses for sale. We signed a six month lease for our apartment so we can't move until the end of June. So we planned to start really looking for a house as soon as we returned home from our cruise in the end of April, but we just can't wait any longer.
Scott called a realtor yesterday, and we are going to actually look at some houses tomorrow morning. There are a few that we have seen on the internet that we are pretty excited about that we are going to see. The cool thing about buying a house this time is that we get to look at houses that are everything we want. When we bought our house in Utah, it wasn't the best market, and there wasn't much to choose from, especially in our price range. We kinda had to settle for a house that was smaller than we wanted, and farther away than we wanted to be. Right now we are in a buyers market, and there are so many houses to choose from in our price range, including brand new, never before lived in homes.
Since Scott accepted his job with Russell back in september, we have had so many amazing opportunities. We would never have been able to afford any of these houses without having moved here. We miss our families and friends, but we don't regret our decision.

Dexter's latest success

Dexter would like me to report his latest success. With just under two weeks until his first birthday, he is FINALLY weaned!! I can't believe it, I am free (for a few months anyway, until I have to do it all over again). He has been mostly weaned for a few months now, but he just couldn't give it up at night, so we took the slow approach and gradually took feedings away. It worked like a charm and now he doesn't even realize it's completely gone.
We are now working on him sleeping ALL night, which is hard. He has never slept through the night, and now that our mexican trip is less than a month away I am feeling the pressure. He usually sleeps until about 4:30 or 5:00 in the morning, but I would love him to sleep until 7:00 or 8:00. I would feel terrible if he kept getting up while he is visiting grandma. If anyone has any suggestions let me know! I could really use the advice.

A New Baby

In case you haven't heard, Scott and I just found this past weekend that we are expecting baby number three. It wasn't that we were actively trying to have another baby, we just stopped trying not to. Anyway, our due date will be somewhere around November 8, 2008.
