Tonsilectomy: Day Two

Prepare to be disgusted!  The pic from day two is horribly gross.  You have been warned!  Once you see, you cannot unsee!

Day Two:

Still not as bad as all the hype.  Night one I didn't sleep well.  Between pumping, taking meds, feeding Malcolm and consoling a sick Echo, it was a LONG night.  When I tried to get up for day two I felt very nauseous.  I had to take half of an anti-nausea pill to be able to move around.  As soon as I felt better I was pretty much able to do the usual activities.  Until it came time for Malcolm's follow-up appointment with the eye doctor who looked in on him at the hospital.  I'm not allowed to drive while taking meds, so Scott had to take us there.

I still felt tired all day, but that could be from the lortab and lack of sleep.  My neck just below my chin is quite tender now, especially on the right side, and of course its still painful when I swallow.  I feel like I have marbles in the back of my throat and I just want to spit them out.  If I think about it, it makes me gag.  Surprisingly I am still able to speak, but it hurts to open my mouth wide, so I'm pretty mumbly and quiet. My ears have begun to crackle, especially on the right.  The docs told me to expect some ear pain, so I'm sure that is just around the corner now.

I was able to eat a little better today.  I had some yogurt, cheese, and even chicken!  Not much of any of them, but something is better than nothing.  I think I've still managed to avoid dehydration, and everything else is going well.  I'm hoping to get a little more sleep tonight and still be able to talk so I can go to parent-teacher conferences in the morning.

Bring on Day three.

Rochelle, you are amazing, and your tonsils (or lack thereof) are amazingly disgusting! I didn't even know it was possible for something to look like that on a living person. (sorry) But I'm seriously impressed with your attitude and ability to handle all this. I've found that taking Fenugreek has helped my milk supply. You can find it at health food stores in tea form or capsule. I like the capsule. Also, for calories you could drink Ensure or something like that. Hang in there! We'll have to chat sometime when it doesn't kill you to talk.

Ok. You and I need to come to an accord. I need you to stop going through stuff that makes me feel helpless being so far away from you. And in return for your word that you and your family will remain safe and healthy from now on, I will be your bestest friend for the rest of time. Or name your terms, I am flexible.

Your tonsils are gross. But they don't bother me. Sucks about your ears crackling. My crackle all the time because my sinuses are stupid. What I'm trying to say is that I feel your pain. And I hope that your pain goes away. *hugs*
