Today I watched myself give birth...

....to Echo.

During my labors there is always some extent of video taping going on.  With each baby the video seems to get progressively more daring, so with Echo, its all there....Every juicy moment.  It's actually a pretty fun video.  Scott and I are joking around for much of it and just being dorks, because that's what we do, but its also got some awesome documentation of what exactly happened.  I even get to hear myself get snippity with the doctor. I cried on my couch in real life, as I was screaming in that bed on video, and I once again felt the instant relief when the baby finally emerges.  I wanted to applaud.

Last time I watched that video was just a few days after it had been made.  I was horrified by what I saw.  I had never seen my births from any other perspective other than my own.  I wanted to see what Scott got to see, which is why we recorded it in the first place.  It was not as empowering as I had envisioned.  It was hard for me to watch.  I cringed, cried, bit my nails, and never wanted to watch it again.  It's probably a big reason why I was so freaked out when I found out that I was pregnant again.

This time was different.  It actually was a little empowering.  I'm five weeks away from my due date, and I feel ready to take on that pain again.  Ready to welcome a new little miracle into our lives.  Ready to be a BIG family of 7.  Ready to get up in the middle of the night to nurse and snuggle a sweet, squiggly, wrinkly baby. And ready to not be pregnant anymore.

I think now is a good time to start getting everyone's guesses in.  We're just over 5 weeks away people.  Here are just a few things to consider before you guess.  I have a feeling that I'm going to go into labor a teensy bit early (Scott is going out of town all next week, so if I do, it'll probably be while he's gone! j/k).  Also, I've had some itching going on for the last couple of days, so the cholestasis from my last pregnancy may be returning (90% chance), which could require early induction (boo!), but I haven't spoken to the doctor about it yet, so who knows (the itching has been minor so far). Also, I do not have any "feelings" on whether its a boy or a girl.  I keep thinking a girl would be easier, so it'll probably be a boy, but really your guess is as good as mine. Here are my statistics:

#1-Boy (Corbin) born by induction 3 days before his due date at 11:36pm, weighing 6 lbs 4 oz
#2-Boy (Dexter) born by spontaneous labor 3 days before his due date at 2:31 am, weighing 6 lbs 4.5 oz
#3-Girl (Ivy) born by induction 9 days before her due date at 2:13 pm, weighing 6 lbs 14 oz
#4-Girl (Echo) born by spontaneous labor + induction 7 days before her due date at 11:58am, weighing 6 lbs 9 oz (I say spontaneous labor + induction only because my water broke 7 hours before the scheduled induction, but contractions did not start on their own, so I had to have pitocin to get them going).
#5 is due September 16th.

So please guess the 1) gender 2)weight 3)date 4)time (if you want to, the time isn't super important).  Also, I didn't include the length, because my memory is fuzzy on that detail, and I'm too lazy to go look it up.  So don't worry about that.  Thanks and good luck!

I think I'm glad that there isn't a video out there of me giving birth! Okay I'm guessing Sept. 7, just cause that's a great day to have a baby(been there, done that) I'm hoping the baby is a girl, weighing in at 6 pounds 8 ounces. 11:15 p.m.

Ohh I love doing this :) September 8th, a baby boy, 7 lbs 1 oz. I don't know if I could dare watch a video of me going through that much pain. Good luck in the weeks to come!

Boy, 6lb 12oz, Sept 10. I don't mean this with any mean spirit but does it even hurt to give birth to a 6lb baby. Just curious since all mine are huge and this next one is no doubt going the same direction.:)

Jessica: The weight of the baby is not what makes it hurt, its the size of the head! And if you look at my beloved spouse you will see that his....is well....large. All my kids have big heads when born, Echo's was 14 inches around. Corbin's head is currently the same exact size as mine...so yeah....It freakin' hurts.

My guess is a girl, Sept 9th (my b-day by the way- that's the only reason I pick that day, it would be cool.) 6 lbs 12 oz. 3:15 am
Good luck. I am so excited to hear of the arrival of this sweet little baby and to hear how awesome you do with Hypnobirthing! I also have a large headed husband. I joke with him that I should have taken one look at the size of his noggin and ran the other way. At least we are tough, right?
