My sweet boys came home from Utah/Las Vegas last night. They've been gone since the end of June and in Grandma's full-time care since Ivy's surgery. I'm pretty sure they didn't really miss us, since Grandma is WAY funner and entertaining than we are, but when I picked them up at the airport last night they were really happy to see me and both ran up for hugs and kisses immediately. I had to hold back tears. I missed them so much.
I had cleaned the whole house before they came home, including moving the boys back into the same room (okay, Scott did most of the "moving", but I cleaned). I washed their bedding and sorted all their clothes, and even got some toys ready for DI (shhh, they don't know that). And today.....the chaos has returned and everything is a mess, but I wouldn't change it. They are playing really well together and with the girls so far, and nobody has fought or cried once yet. I'm so happy to have our little family all together again.
I witnessed this funny conversation today while Corbin and Dexter were "rescuing people from fires and fights". And I thought it was too cute not to share.
Dexter: We need an ambulance, this guy got punched really hard in the stomach and now his blood is gushing out. He doesn't have any more blood! He's DEAD!
Corbin: The ambulance is on the way. That guy needs to go to the hospital to be brought back to life.
Dexter: We can save him, but we need more blood. The mosquitoes drank all of his blood. We need to hurry.
I laughed at their little game, but I don't know if I should be proud that Dexter could grow up to be a doctor, or nervous that he could grow up fascinated by blood and death....hmmm. Here's the conversation from a "fire".
Dexter: Here comes the fireman to light the people on fire!
Corbin: What?! Firemen don't do that!
Dexter: Yes they do. That's why they are called firemen. They light fires.
Corbin: No they don't, they stop fires and save people who are burning.
Dexter: Oh. Then how do the fires start?
Corbin: When Mommies burn dinner in the oven.
These kids need some serious fire education. It'll give us something to do until school starts next week. Its probably a good idea for them to learn since a large portion of Idaho is ablaze right now, even part of our neighborhood had to be evacuated from a fire the night before last (some teenagers started a fire in a field behind the houses, luckily it was stopped by the irrigation canal before anyone lost their home).
Anywho, a BIG, GIANT, ENORMOUS thank you goes out to Grandma Marde and Grandpa Ross who kept our kids safe and entertained and happy for the majority of the Summer. You guys are the best and we can't thank you enough. You ROCK!

Dexter is so funny! I love having that kid around! Firemen...that makes sense! Maybe they should have been called anti-firemen if they put fires out and firemen if they light people on fire! I'm with you Dex!
Love, love, love the firemen conversation. Especially the part about mommies burning dinner in the oven. Teehee! Glad your family is all back together again. Marde & Ross are saints.
Your stories about the boys just made me laugh out loud. Aren't your boys just so cute. We sure enjoyed them and are a little sad to wake up to such a quiet house. We had a great time at Pirate's Cove and I have never seen 2 kids who love water as much as they do! SO FUN. Love, Marde
Those two are funny. Is it wrong that I wish my kids could go to grandmas for a month? I'd get so much done.
