A couple of success stories

I have had a good week or so (finally) since our family came home from Bear Lake, and I thought maybe I'd make everyone else jealous with a few of my success stories.
First, and most exciting for me is getting Corbin to eat! I don't know if other mom's have as much trouble as I do getting my 3 year old to eat, but this is something I have really stuggled with for about a year or so. Corbin always ate breakfast really well, but for the past year he almost stopped eating lunch and dinner. I was wondering how he ever had bowel movements, and if there was something wrong with him. I tried pretty much everything to get this boy to eat, but nothing worked, it was very frustrating. Well, last monday I decided to take away Corbin's sippy cup, I had been trying to take it away for a long time, but could never get him to agree, but I finally said, "You are a big boy, and big boys drink from a glass, not a sippy cup." And that was it, he gave it up, without a fight and hasn't asked for it since. The greatest news about the whole thing is that he is finally eating! And I mean EATING! Every meal, every bite. He even wants snacks all throughout the day and is almost constantly saying, "I need to eat something." Which gets a little annoying, but it is worth it to see him eat.
Success story number two, Dexter is sleeping in a big boy bed. He is almost 16 months old, which may seem a little young to a lot of people, but he is the same age that Corbin was when we moved him to a toddler bed, and it was so successful then, that we decided to do it again. We put the toddler bed in his room next to his crib, and put all the same bedding (since it's mattress is the same size) onto the toddler bed. It worked like a charm, he hasn't fallen off yet, that we are aware of, and he is still sleeping through the night. He hasn't put up a fuss once, and I guess must not have been too attatched to his crib, cause it's like he didn't even notice.
And finally, church. I have dreaded church every sunday since the new year started. The reason why, is that Corbin turned three last november and therefore, once january came, he was graduated to sunbeams. Also, because we moved out of the ward Corbin was comfortable in, and had to start fresh in a new ward. We attended Russell and Collettes ward for the first 5 months that we lived in boise, because their ward was at a better time than ours, which is a lame excuse, but oh well. Anyway, Dallin and Bowen were in nursery, so we thought Corbin would enjoy going with them, since it would only be for a few months, and Corbin seemed so young to be moving on to primary. But, it didn't quite work out as planned, he completely flipped out every single sunday, and refused to go to nursery and primary. We tried taking him to sunday school with us, which was also a big pain. So when we finally got a house, I swore he would go to primary without the tears if it was the last thing I ever did. Anyway, finally last week, we did it. We had to use bribery, but he went to sunbeams and didn't cry, and even said he had a good time. So yesterday, we went again, and he went to sunbeams again and didn't cry. So now, for the first time in months I am not dreading church all week. I was so proud of him for going that first sunday, that I actually cried, now I am so happy to be able to go to sunday school and relief society and learn something. Well, anyway, those are my successes for the week, I hope to have many more weeks like this.

yeah! My kids have always transitioned easily to big kids beds and I think that is a perfect age to switch them if you had waited longer he probably would have become attached to his crib. I think that Alex will be easier to get to church when he can go to primary with Rayden and Ryan, I finally got him to like nursery but I had to sit with him every week for like 2 months before he finally let me go to Relief Society.

I get the whole eating thing. I think a lot of kids go through that. Mine would be really big eaters and then go through phases where I wondered if they could survive on so little food. Glad to hear they are doing well.

Hip Hip Hooray! Those are all TERRIFIC success stories. And I wish you many, many more like it. All moms deserve for things to "fall into place" once in a while. That's what keeps us going.

I am so glad that Sunday's are not such a stress for you now. It is amazing as something as simple as taking away the sippy would give him his appetite back. I wonder if he was just drinking so much that he never felt hungry or what, but anyway glad you conquered yet another challenge.

Holy cow, those are great successes!! Glad to hear the toddler bed is working! We moved our kids really early like that too and it worked well for us.
And so good to hear about church. It's so hard to want to go when it's such a pain every week. Our kids have all taken turns not wanting to go to class so I know what a relief it is to have everyone in their own class and happy. Awesome!!
