My Wedding Day

Ten years ago today Scott and I were married.  TEN YEARS!  I can't believe its been that long.  I'm sure to many, that seems like hardly any time at all, but considering all the things we've been through in these ten years, it seems like longer to us (in a good way!).

It is well documented on this blog how much I love Scott.  He is everything to me and I adore every second that we are together.  This post, however, is not about that.  I wanted to recall my memories of that hot summer day ten years ago.  I don't want to get too sappy right now.

Surprisingly, I don't remember as much as I would have expected.  It was a big day, and of course stress tends to take over sometimes, so my memory is foggy, but here's what I have.

I got up really early (for the life of me I don't know why), I don't remember doing anything super important, but I do remember going out for breakfast with some members of my family, although I don't remember exactly which ones.

My sister, Maxine did my hair for the wedding (but I don't actually remember her doing it).  I remember driving my red Mercury Tracer to Scott's house sometime in the afternoon to get my wedding dress on and finish getting ready.  Scott was asleep on the couch when I arrived. Ross and Marde were out in the backyard setting up chairs and gift tables and putting finishing touches on everything.  Ross told me that Scott had also slept in late that day.  Oh to be the groom...

After Scott awakened from his pre-marital nap, he got dressed and we took a zillion pictures in the HOT HOT sun.  I remember that it was the hottest day of the year so far (and probably remained that way), and sweat was running down my back.

Now, I know that a wedding ceremony happened (since that's what we were all there for), but I don't remember a single thing about it other than I cried (again, in a good way).  Everyone helped bring round tables out for the reception and by the time it actually started wind was blowing like crazy.  It knocked all our pictures over (even breaking a few) and we couldn't put out part of the center pieces on the tables because they were blowing away.  But I was so grateful for that wind, because man, I was HOT.

I don't remember greeting guests, or standing in "the line", however, I remember being very hungry and finally feasting on crescents and eclairs.  I also remember that for a few moments the guests slowed down and Scott and I took a break on Marde's wooden swing with our quilts draped over it.  Scott tried to sneak a peak at my cleavage and his cousin, Juliana, got the whole thing on video.  We still laugh about it to this day.

I remember cutting the cake with the wind blowing my veil in my face and then smashing cake all over each other.  Soon after that we went out to my silly decorated Mercury and drove off to Anniversary Inn.

I remember other things from that night, but those are private memories..wink, wink.

One more moment of sappiness....I am so grateful for Scott, our sweet children, and our amazing life.  I am so glad that ten years ago he made me the luckiest girl in the world and that I get to spend every day with my favorite people.  Happy Anniversary, Scott.  I love you and
I hope you don't get sick of me pretty soon....

Ohhh Rochelle! You are my favorite wife ever! 1/3 of my entire life has been spent with you! I love the crap out of you! We didn't write custom vows 10 years ago, so let me write something for you right now..."I wanna hold you till I die...till we both break down and cry. I wanna hold you till the fear in me subsides!"
