So the blood and urine cultures finished doing whatever it is they do...
The infectious disease doctor called last night to tell us that Ivy doesn't have a bladder infection. It turns out that it probably was a good thing I took her to the ER so she could get that antibiotic shot in her bum. Because she actually has a kidney infection. And its been a kidney infection the whole time. Even last time they did blood and urine cultures, they just didn't test them for that (or something, The Doc went all jargony on me and I only sort of understood). Anyway, he said the reason she was sick and then got better with the augmenton and then got sick again was because the augmenton didn't clear it up all the way because it isn't strong enough, so he quickly faxed over a new, stronger antibiotic for her and I had to run in and pick it up before the pharmacy closed because it was important that she start it right away. Luckily, I made it! So now she's on Cipro which should clear it up. She also has a renal ultrasound scheduled for tomorrow morning. I haven't told her yet. She's not going to be happy.
I'm so glad we have finally gotten to the bottom of this illness. Now we can focus on her getting better again.
Just a side note: I almost died from a kidney infection when I was three years old. Now I can say that she and I have a medical complication in common!

Thank goodness the princess is on her way to recovery! Give her a big hug from me. She is such a sweetheart and so lucky to have such a great mom to take her to so many doctor appointments and a great dad to watch the other kids while mom is gone. What a blessing it is that she came to your family!
I'm so glad they figured out what was causing her to be sick. Now she can get well ,and everyone can rest easier. Take care, we love all of you!
