Braggin' Wagon Wednesday: After 7 Long Years

Have you ever had one of those days when by 11 am you think why did I even get out of bed this morning? Today has been one of those days. Last night to convince the kids to go to bed, I told them we would have a super fun day today filled with a trip to the park, a super fun walk, and riding bikes in the driveway. They went to bed, so as planned we geared up and headed for an ill-fated adventure at the park. I don't want to go into a ton of detail, because its a long story, but it involved making a walk that should have taken 3 minutes into 15, A LOT of crying, and even an openly peeing in the grass at the elementary school incident. Needless to say, I cut the trip short and we came home.

Anyway, that isn't what this post is about. Last week our 7 year old vacuum that we received as a wedding gift officially died. It had been dying for quite some time, but Scott is always able to nurse it back to health. This time however, it couldn't be revived and we had to buy another one. I have to say though, I am impressed that it lasted as long as it did, especially for a vacuum that was under a hundred bucks. Here are a few picks of the last time Scott successfully fixed it, back in January.
The hose was clogged.
Scott put the swiffer mop handle in the hose to try and get the clump out, but all that did was get the mop stuck in there too. Then the mop broke. "I know, lets get out the power tools!" He's like Tim "the toolman" Taylor!
I thought it was a gonner, but eventually the clog (and mop handle) was removed, and it somewhat worked again. Until last week. Farewell old friend.
Here is the new one.
We spent just 70 bucks on this beauty, and it works great. It really made me realize that our old one hasn't been doing its job for a while. Its nice to have clean floors again. It claims to be "featherlite" so I think I'm going to make the kids start vacuuming! Just kidding, but don't they look adorable trying to push it!
Corbin is almost big enough to do it!
Ivy's struggling to not be crushed by it. (right after this picture she almost was)
Dex looks like he's "slow-dancing" with it. Somebody get a bible to put between those two!
Yay for new stuff, even if it is just a vacuum!

That's great! Loved the do-it-yourself spirit. My hubby is that way too. But new things are fun when the old ones can't be resurrected anymore. I know Renae was 6 when she started vacuuming for me...so it's not too far in the future (if you want them to have the "work experience" but you'll probably have to re-do it yourself afterward) :)

Ha ha! It's funny how sentimental you seem to be over a vacuum! You are so cute! I like the idea of having the kids do some more chores! That's a great idea. Maybe if they understand the misery of chores, they will appreciate the pleasures of going to the park more!! You see how I tied both of your topics up into one awesome life lesson?! It's like a Seinfeld episode!

Darn my comment was erased cuz I typed in the wrong word, I hate that! Glad you got a new vacuum, that always is so nice and so eye opening to how poorly the previous one worked. Hope your afternoon went better and no more peeing outside :)

You statement, "Somebody get a bible to put between those two!" almost made me spit Pepsi on my computer. If that happens you owe me a new one. By the way, openly peeing at the elementary school is probably not the best example you should be setting for your kids.
